Ontario Delays March Break in an Effort to Reduce Community Transmission of COVID-19

This afternoon the Ministry of Education announced that they will be rescheduling March Break from March 15–19, 2021 to April 12-16, 2021.

The decision was made following guidance of the Chief Medical Officer of Health based on both the past increases in test positivity experienced following the Christmas break and the future modeling of cases. With that, there are concerns arising from the health table about the possible spread of the virus during the traditional March Break period.

We recognize this news may be disappointing to some in our school communities, especially after a difficult start to 2021. We will continue to offer our prayers that all remain safe and well in the coming weeks and for those at the central public health and science tables who are providing guidance on these matters.

We will review the impact of these changes on any scheduled events during the period of April 12-16 and will communicate any changes accordingly.

We would also like to note the following changes to the distribution of Elementary Report cards.  Due to a provincial software issue with our report card vendor, we have experienced delays in the preparation of our report cards.  As a result, Elementary report cards will now be sent home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.  Schools will be providing additional information in future communications about report cards and opportunities for parent-teacher conferencing.

Families are also asked to please continue to complete the daily self-screening tool before heading to school: https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/

Thank you for your ongoing support to keep our schools safe.
