WCDSB Student Census

As previously shared, the Wellington Catholic DSB will be conducting a Student Census in April 2022 in compliance with the Anti-Racism Act in s.7(2) with the goal of eliminating systemic racism and advancing racial equity. The Student Census can now be accessed to be completed by parents of students in kindergarten through grade 8 until May 13, 2022, while secondary students will have the opportunity to complete the survey in class. As an elementary parent completing the census, you will need to log into the MyWellingtonStudent portal found at the top of your school’s website using your child’s board email address and board assigned password. Once you have logged into the portal, you can click the survey link and this will take you directly to the survey.

Mandated for all school boards in Ontario to offer in compliance with the Anti-Racism Act in s.7(2) with the goal of eliminating systemic racism and advancing racial equity, the student census is a voluntary and confidential survey that will collect data specifically related to self-identity, demographics, and experiences at school. The Student Census should take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

After the survey, student responses will be combined to create a report – students will not be identified in any way in this report.  Students may request access to, or correction of, personal information collected in the Student Census that relates to them.  Consent may be withdrawn for further use of personal information, but withdrawal will not result in changes to analysis and reporting that has already been completed as part of the Student Census activity.

By completing this survey, we hope to learn more about the students we support and help us to identify differences and gaps in our students’ experiences and outcomes, based on their diverse needs. The data from the survey will help us understand our student demographics and experiences, identify systemic racism, sexism, and classism that affects the learning outcomes of our students, identify and minimize the barriers for our students and their families, and guide our professional development, training, and pedagogy.
