Ensuring Honest & Ethical Independent Student Work in the Context of Remote Learning

The main purpose of assessment and evaluation is to improve student learning. All assessment should lead to hope; we want to promote student engagement and learning to ensure student success for the future. Educators use differentiated methods of assessments to gather evidence of how students are progressing; this is especially true as we adjust to assessing remote learning. We hope to provide feedback to students to support their continuous and ongoing learning.

With access to the internet, the ability to work together using technology, and fewer reminders that “it needs to be your own work,” students may need more support in understanding what constitutes academic honesty and plagiarism when completing distance learning activities. If they have concerns, your child’s teacher may contact you about an issue of plagiarism or cheating.
